Busy, Busy, Busy
We have so much to share this week. We have been busy reading, writing, and doing lots of math. Our class is also working on our list of how to fix things with our friends and classmates. We call this an apology of action. We have a great list of ideas already. We also completed our bus safety unit, took our test, and are waiting for all our parent forms to be returned. This coming week we have conferences on Thursday and a fieldtrip to St. John's for a nature walk and a St. John's Boys Choir Concert. Please be sure to return the permission slip by Monday for the fieldtrip. I can't wait for another exciting week.

Math Groups Begin....

Our math classes were formed today based on MAP and MCA scores. Most students will switch teachers for math during this school year. We have a new math series called "Course 1" that will prepare students for Algebra. A skill we need all students to work on is basic fact fluency. Please practice these with your child at least a couple times a week. If you need ideas to practice, please let me know.

Forms, Planners, and Orchestra
All forms from your open house folders are due by Friday. If you are interested in Orchestra, you must also return that form by Friday. Many more students still need to bring in their agenda money. Please return this as soon as possible. Thanks!!!

Week of September 14th

Hi Everyone!
This week we are working on getting all of our routines in place. We begin spelling this week, so don't forget to practice your words. We are also working on our favorite place writing prompt. For Social Studies, students are creating their own personal timelines. You should make sure to have your 5 important events ready to turn into a timeline. In math, we are playing math games. Wednesday will be a great Climb Theater performance. We will also be introduced to orchestra and have a chance to sign up. It should be a great week!!!

There will be some changes this year at Talahi with new teachers and students joining us. We give them a special Talahi welcome. I will be using this blog to update you on all the great things we are going to be doing in fifth grade. I am learning a lot about technology and how to use it to help us learn at a faster rate.
